The College wishes to congratulate Abigail Gravell (Year 8) and Maya Bowles (Year 6), who have been selected as finalists for the 2022 Nagle Prize.
Held annually, the Nagle Prize is a national competition that is open to students from member schools.
Participants in this year’s competition were challenged to write a poem that explores the life of Nano Nagle.
Abigail and Maya’s pieces, which were submitted into the Senior and Junior School categories respectively, are published below.
Congratulations to you both on such wonderful work and good luck for the finals!
Junior School Entry
chosen as the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Junior entry to the Nagle Prize 2022
The visions of Nano Nagle are shining out of us.
In our hearts and in our words.
Founded in her name, the Presentation Sisters carried on her legacy.
And after over 150 years, she is with us.
Guiding us through the dark, to the light on the other side.
No matter where you are, Nano will always be there with a lantern to guide you.
Through the good and bad times you may face.
Remember that there is good in every lost soul.
Never give up hope, that soon enough, happiness will always meet you.
Always go one pace beyond.

Nano Nagle
This woman
Doing God’s work
In her eyes, it’s right
But the people around her see it as wrong
No applause from anyone
Except the children
Risking her life for the ones she cares about
At night, guiding these children with a lantern
For their education
Boy or girl both were equal
She will now and forever, guide the light
